lys_mcp documentation

lys_mcp enables other processes, such as Claude Code and the command line, to control lys (https://github.com/lys-devel/lys).

With lys_mcp, Claude can execute Python commands in the lys shell and see images of lys graphs and matplotlib figures.

How it works:

Claude Code ⇄ (MCP) ⇄ lys-mcp ⇄ (local socket) ⇄ lys (python -m lys --remote)
                                    ⇅
lys-remote (command line) / LysClient (Python)
  • lys accepts commands through a local socket only when it is launched with --remote option.

  • lys-mcp is an MCP server, which is launched by Claude Code automatically and passes the requests of Claude to lys.

  • lys-remote is a command line client to send commands to lys by hand.

To use lys_mcp, go to Installation and Usage. Source code of lys_mcp is opened in GitHub (https://github.com/lys-devel/lys_mcp).
